Is Acupuncture Both Short-Term and Long-Term, and Can I Stop Once Symptoms Improve?Acupuncture can provide both short-term relief and long-term benefits. The duration of treatment depends on the nature of the condition, and even after symptoms improve, acupuncturists may recommend a course of sessions to address underlying imbalances and prevent recurrence.
-
Will acupuncture hurt?In Rejuvenating Clinic, we use a very fine gauge needle that feels almost painless. Although there may be the occasional pinching sensation when the needle goes in. However, some individuals may be more sensitive compared to others due to the difference in each individual's body constitution.
-
Can I Continue to Receive Acupuncture After My Symptoms Have Improved?Certainly! Continuing acupuncture as a preventive measure is a wise choice. As the saying goes, "Prevention is better than cure." Your acupuncturist may recommend ongoing sessions to sustain a healthy balance and proactively address potential issues. Maintaining this approach ensures sustained well-being. Feel free to consider the benefits of ongoing acupuncture sessions for a proactive approach to your health.
-
Are there any side effects of acupuncture? There are very few side effects of acupuncture. This includes some soreness at the site of the location after the removal of the needle and may have some bruising as well. In some cases, some people may feel nauseous which can be often prevented by having a light meal before treatment.
-
How long will my acupuncture session take? For acupuncture initial session is 1 hour, and return session generally takes between 45 to 50 minutes. Please note that it may sometimes take a little longer if the practitioner chooses to incorporate different modalities for your condition. Please allow 1 hour for each session.
-
What does acupuncture feel like?Generally, the sensation you should be expecting is a dull ache, slight distension or some heaviness at the site of insertion. It may also radiate from the site of the needle insertion. At times, some may experience a stronger sensation than others.
-
What Determines the Number of Sessions? The number of acupuncture sessions depends on factors like the severity (how complex it is), duration of the condition (chronic or acute), and individual response to treatment (your body constitution). Generally acute onset conditions (such as common cold, and recent sprains) may require a shorter, consecutive timeframe for sessions, while chronic or ongoing conditions may need a more extended course of treatment. Your acupuncturist will discuss expectations based on your specific health concern.
